The APL Story

Beginning in 1985, APL was established as a leading independent pharmaceutical distributor, supporting two multinational pharmaceutical manufacturers. Our first warehouse, "Gedung Biru" in Pulogadung, Jakarta symbolizes our spirit of dedication and commitment to delivering essential healthcare products throughout Indonesia.

Driven by a focus on innovation, adaptability, and partnership, APL has grown into a US$1.1 billion enterprise, serving more than 50 global pharmaceutical partners and reaching over 67,000 customers across Indonesia.

After completing his studies in Zurich, Switzerland, Dr. Willem B. Wanandi returned to Indonesia with a vision to expand access to quality healthcare. That same year, APL was founded with a clear purpose to strengthen healthcare distribution across the nation.

1999

APL was recognized as a leading independent pharmaceutical distributor in Indonesia, setting new benchmarks for operational excellence and industry standards.

2001

2001

APL accelerated its digital transformation by implementing SAP and launching advanced information systems, including the Executive Information System (EIS) and an integrated call center platform. These innovations enhanced transparency, real-time report, and connectivity for APL's partner nationwide.

2005

APL entered a new chapter of growth by becoming a joint venture with Zuellig Pharma Group, the largest healthcare services group in Asia.

APL expanded beyond distribution into Commercialization services through strategic acquisitions of PT Metro Drug Indonesia and APL Pharmalink, reinforcing its commitment to delivering end-to-end healthcare solutions. In the same year, we collaborated with IBM to advanced data-drive innovation and digital capabilities.

APL reaffirmed its leadership in healthcare innovation by hosting its largest exhibition to date, showcasing our digital ecosystem and advancing the healthcare 4.0 agenda in Indonesia.

APL inaugurated its National Distribution Center in Cikarang, West Java. Spanning over 39,930 square meter, NDC is Indonesia's first and largest world-class pharmaceutical distribution center.
